COP26 East Hampshire
As the world focused on Glasgow for the UN Conference on Climate Change, East Hampshire hosted its own climate conference on the 8th October, focusing on the action that can be taken locally to accelerate decarbonisation.
Organised by Damian in conjunction with East Hampshire District Council, the free event included presentations as well as an exhibition, enabling visitors to engage with organisations and companies that can support action locally to decarbonise.
The attendance was very encouraging: about 400 in total; with further reach through a live stream broadcast, plus social media, local papers, local radio, and a piece on BBC South Today.
A recording of the event held in the main auditorium is available on EHDC's YouTube channel at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJiatxF5quk
A key part of the event focused on the presentation of the findings and recommendations from the three Action Groups who had been working together over recent weeks to identify the challenges and opportunities to decarbonise our use of transport, buildings and land here in East Hampshire. Participants in these groups included local community groups and organisations who are active in these sectors, as well as representatives from local businesses, farms and schools and officials from both Hampshire County Council and East Hampshire District Council.
Copies of the three reports are available via links at the end of this page
