Damian Hinds has welcomed the results from a government scheme to help unemployed people start their own business.
The New Enterprise Allowance (NEA) was rolled out in April 2011 to help connect unemployed people with a business mentor and get a business up and running. From April 2011 to June 2014, 50 people in East Hampshire have started working with a business mentor, while 20 have started their business, got off benefits and started receiving the weekly NEA.
Damian Hinds said:
āThe New Enterprise Allowance is a great initiative that aims to help people who are out of work to start their own businesses and support themselves, and Iām pleased to see that numerous new businesses have been set up in East Hampshire as a result of it. These will not only benefit their owners; they will also stimulate the local economy and, in some instances, act as a valuable sources of employment for others too.ā
