Damian Hinds has welcomed the announcement of more than £6m of new funding in Hampshire to tackle potholes.
In total £17.6m of additional funding for Hampshire has been announced for this year, on top of the annual roads maintenance budget.
Over three million potholes will be filled in across England with funding from the £168 million
Pothole Fund, announced in the 2014 Budget. This is part of more than £24 billion which will be spent on England’s roads between 2010 and 2021 – the biggest investment in our roads since the 1970s.
Damian Hinds said:
“There are certain areas in East Hampshire which are prone to potholes, and I know they are a real nuisance for drivers and can do serious damage to their cars. This funding should help to repair many of these problem areas, and ensure that East Hampshire’s infrastructure is up to the job it has to do: letting residents and businesses get around efficiently and safely.”
