Damian visited Rye Park nursery in Portsmouth to talk to staff and mums about free childcare provision.
The nursery is one of the pilots for the scheme that will enable working parents of 3 and 4 year olds to access 30 hours free childcare per child per week in term time (as against 15 hours now), from September 2017.
A key government commitment and part of the £1bn extra going into childcare, Hampshire County Council will be working with the Department of Education to ensure it will meet the needs of children with Special Educational Needs, and those in rural communities.
