Last week Damian signed the Holocaust Educational Trust’s Book of Commitment, pledging his commitment to Holocaust Memorial Day, and honouring those who were murdered and the survivors who work to educate young people today.
Saturday 27th January will mark the anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration and death camp Auschwitz-Birkenau.
Damian said:
“Before “never again” comes “never forget”. Holocaust Memorial Day is a time to reflect on the horrors that mankind is capable of, to remember and honour the unimaginable numbers of people murdered. As the holocaust moves from living memory, the work of the Holocaust Educational Trust is more important than ever.
The Holocaust Educational Trust has received funding from the government since 2006 to run its ‘Lessons from Auschwitz’ project, which provides for two students and a teacher from every state funded school and sixth form college in England to visit Auschwitz-Birkenau.
