Damian Hinds has welcomed new figures showing 970 new apprenticeships were started by people in East Hampshire last year. In total 3,180 new apprenticeships have been started in East Hampshire since 2010.
The figures showed a strong rise in the number of apprenticeships started – up 8% in the South East in 2014/15 from the year before – with a total 2.4 million apprenticeships started in England since 2010.
Damian said:
“These figures are great news. More than 3,000 new apprenticeships since 2010 means more young people across East Hampshire are getting skills to help them secure jobs that can give them greater certainty and improved prospects for the future.
“Apprenticeships remain a critical part of the long term economic plan and the government is committed to go even further over the next five years, aiming to deliver 3 million more high quality apprenticeships by 2020.
