Damian Hinds is delighted that Portsmouth’s Queen Alexandra Hospital is one of the NHS sites to benefit from a multi-million pound funding programme to up-grade cancer testing and detection services.
The investment for QA includes two new CT scanners and new mammography breast screening and assessment equipment.
Other local hospitals to benefit include the Royal Surrey in Guildford, which will receive an MRI scanner, and University Hospital Southampton which will have a new CT scanner
The funding comes from the £200 million budget announced by the Prime Minister last month and is part of the Government’s commitment to ensure 55,000 more people survive cancer each year and part of the NHS Long Term Plan.
