Figures released by the Office of National Statistics confirmed that unemployment (as measured by Job Seekers Allowance claimants) in September 2014 totalled 413, which is 0.9% of the economically active working age population.
This is a drop of almost 40% since September 2013. These data are not seasonally adjusted.
Across the country as a whole, the claimant count is down by more than half a million since 2010.
Damian Hinds said:
“I am as pleased as ever to see unemployment continue to fall in East Hampshire; the situation consistently improves. Of course, it is not just the local economy that benefits residents but also the national economy – and so it is great to see that the situation in East Hampshire is being replicated across the country.”
