Damian is currently a member of the Select Committee on Culture, Media and Sport, is co-chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Down Syndrome and is a member of a number of All Party Parliamentary Groups including heritage railways, rural services, children's online safety, hospitality and tourism, haemophilia and contaminated blood, AI and youth employment.  He also recently sat on Bill Committees for the Children's Wellbeing and Schools Bill and the IfATE Bill (now Act).

Damian Hinds: To ask the Secretary of State for Education, how much (a) set up, (b) other one-off, (c) food, (d) staffing and (e) other operating cost funding has been allocated to schools for school breakfast pilots in total; and what estimate she has made of the (i) number of eligible children and (ii) average number of breakfasts to be taken per eligible child over the period.

During the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) oral questions session today, Damian urged the Minister to take steps to raise awareness of the digital landline switch over, and, specifically, the implications for those currently dependent on their landlines.

Damian spoke during today's second reading debate on the Safer Phone's Bill.   Speaking after the debate, Damian said: "The Safer Phones Bill is a missed opportunity, in my view, to push for real reform in this crucial area.

E-petition debate on VAT on independent school fees

Monday, 3 March, 2025
Damian spoke at the e-petition debate on the imposition of VAT on independent school fees and the impact of business rates relief on these schools. Speaking at the time, Damian said: "Over 600 East Hampshire residents signed the petition to Parliament against the imposition of VAT on education.
