Supporting peoples’ aspirations to have the comfort and security of owning their own home has long been dear to Conservative philosophy and is why we introduced a number of measures to support this. So far Help to Buy, a scheme designed to help people access an affordable mortgage with a small deposit, has meant 119 people in East Hampshire have been able buy their own home, and more than 90,000 across the UK. If re-elected, the Conservatives promise to go even further to support families getting on the housing ladder: we will extend Help to Buy, introduce a Help to Buy ISA and build 200,000 discount starter homes.
