Damian welcomes the announcement from the Prime Minster that an investment of £150 million is being made for the UK's first national Dementia Research Institute.
As a Dementia Friends Champion, Damian is involved in promoting greater awareness and understanding of dementia and how local communities can best support those with the condition.
This Government wants Britain to lead the way in tackling this disease and has already taken great strides – since 2010 investment in research has doubled and hundreds of thousands of NHS and care staff have had specialist training.
This Institute is another good step – and will allow research tools and expertise to be drawn together to help fight this disease.
