South West Trains have announced changes to their timetables which will be introduced from Sunday 13th December.
The changes provide approximately 57,000 extra seats throughout the week and right across the network, including additional services to a number of stations as well as longer trains through a £65million rollout of 108 additional and refurbished carriages.
For users of the Portsmouth - Petersfield - Waterloo line, this means:
Additional services:
- 1545 Waterloo to Portsmouth & Southsea extended to Portsmouth Harbour
- 1824 Portsmouth & Southsea to Waterloo will start from Portsmouth Harbour – departing 1819
And, the following services will be extended early in 2016:
- 0729 Portsmouth Harbour to Waterloo will increase from 5 carriages to 10 carriages
- 1645 Waterloo to Portsmouth Harbour will increase from 8 carriages to 12
For users of the Porstmouth - Eastleigh - Waterloo line, this means:
The following services will be extended early in 2016:
- 0642 Basingstoke to Waterloo will increase from 6 carriages to 8
- 0650 Portsmouth Harbour to Waterloo via Eastleigh will increase from 8 carriages to 12
- 1709 Waterloo to Portsmouth Harbour via Eastleigh will increase from 5 carriages to 8
- 1739 Waterloo to Portsmouth Harbour via Eastleigh increases from 8 carriages to 9 on December 14th. It will then increase to 10 early in 2016
For users of the Alton - Waterloo line, this means:
The following services will be extended early in 2016:
- 0739 Farnham to Waterloo will increase from 8 carriages to 12
- 0844 Alton to Waterloo will increase from 5 carriages to 8
- 1902 Waterloo to Woking will increase from 8 carriages to 12.
- 2153 Waterloo to Alton service will change from a 12-carriage train to a 10-carriage train with the removal of first class. Passengers who usually catch the 2153 Waterloo to Alton may wish to catch the 2130 or 2223 services where first class is available
