Damian spoke during today's second reading debate on the Safer Phone's Bill. Speaking after the debate, Damian said:
"The Safer Phones Bill is a missed opportunity, in my view, to push for real reform in this crucial area. Instead of meaningful legislative change, the bill focuses on parental guidance and evidence gathering, which will likely disappoint many of the parents who have contacted me about this issue recently. The decision to abandon plans for a school mobile phone ban is another setback. I will continue urging the government to take stronger action on the challenges posed by smartphones and children."
The next debate on the Safer Phones Bill is scheduled for 11 July 2025.
