The Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Steve Barclay, today confirmed funding of £800 million for Basingstoke Hospital. This is great news for the local community and particularly for those in and around Alton who currently access services at Basingstoke.
This investment in Basingstoke Hospital is part of a total investment package worth £20 billion to modernise the NHS estate. The new hospital at Basingstoke will replace the current hospital, which dates back to the 1970s, and is due to be open in the early part of the next decade. A public consultation will now follow prior to the Trust applying for planning consent.
