Damian has just released the following statement:
"I’m aware of reports regarding the potential closure of the Rowan Ward at Petersfield Hospital. I have been in touch with the Integrated Care Board and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Trust, who have told me that no final decisions have been made. The Trust has also assured me that staff and patients will be consulted before any changes are implemented.
I’ve already heard from concerned members of the public and have been in direct contact with several staff members. I stand ready to support them in whatever way I can. The Rowan Ward is a valued part of our community, providing essential rehabilitative and palliative care to some of our most vulnerable residents.”
