Visiting Parliament
Every year MPs welcome hundreds of school students to Parliament. The usual format is a free walking tour of the Palace of Westminster followed by a trip to the state of the art Education Centre. I will always try and meet school visitors at the end of their visit for a Q&A and general discussion about working as an MP. Schools can also use the opportunity to take in nearby sights such as the Tate Britain, the National Gallery or the London Eye and enjoy a picnic lunch in St James' Park before heading home.
Due to the proximity of East Hampshire to London, the travel subsidy is not available to schools in the constituency.
School visits
I also carry out a programme of primary school visits throughout the constituency. The visits are a good opportunity for students and teachers to talk to their MP about local or national issues, as well as for me to see the school in action. I also visit secondary schools and post 16 colleges to meet with students interested in politics or studying GCSE or A Level politics - this includes the annual 'Question Time' debate involving students from The Petersfield School, Bedales and Bohunt.
Please contact me if you would like me to visit your school.
